The Death of Robin Hood looks at how the legendary figure has developed over time as a symbol of nature vs man-made order. It is one of many examples of Vansitaart's work in which he looks at how historical fact has transformed into myth.
Despite not often hitting best-seller lists, Vansitaart's writing has been praised for its originality and unapologetic ambition. He was awarded an OBE for his services to literature shortly before his death.
