First edition with illustrations from Le Cain. Illustrated with colour images throughout. This retelling of Aladdin recounts the tale of a poor tailor's son who becomes a wealthy prince with the help of a magic lamp he finds in an enchanted cave. The original folk tale derives from the The Book of One Thousand and One Nights (The Arabian Nights), compiled in the Arabic language during the Islamic Golden Age. Written by Andrew Lang, a Scottish poet, novelist, literary critic, and contributor to the field of anthropology. Illustrated by Errol John Le Cain, a British-Singaporean animator and children's book illustrator. In 1984 he won the prestigious Kate Greenaway Medal for "distinguished illustration in a book for children" for Hiawatha's Childhood.
Condition
In the original pictorial paper covered boards. Externally, very smart with minor wear only. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with minor age toning to the endpapers.
