Loosely inserted to Brief Lives and Fraud are advance review slips.
Three novels by Anita Brooker (1928-2016), two of which are advance review copies. Brooker was an English novelist, best known for her award-winning novel Hotel du Lac.
This set comprises:
The Debut (1981), Brookner's first novel, which is also known as A Start in Life. In this novel, the reader follows a heroine who has been disappointed by the false promises of happy endings.
Brief Lives (1990), a novel centred around the friendship of two very different women, and the betrayals and disappointments they must overcome.
Fraud (1992), a novel in which the disappearance of a woman reveals the fraudulent behaviour of those who have been involved with her life.
Condition
In the publisher's original quarter cloth and boards, with the original unclipped dust wrappers. Externally, excellent. Ink mark to the bottom edge of the textblock to 'The Debut'. Dust wrappers are bright and smart. Small loss and closed tear to the front of the wrap to 'The Debut', with a little sunning to the rear of the wrap.
