The first edition, second state. With the female protagonist being named 'Karin Forster'; the name was changed from 'Kathe Geutner' due to a threat of a libel suit from someone with the same name as the character. Alan Desland is a socially awkward Englishman who makes a living as a collector and dealer of fine pottery including antique ceramics. On a business trip to Copenhagen, he falls completely in love with a mysterious and beautiful young woman who he proposes to despite not knowing anything about her family or background. Written by Richard George Adams, an English novelist best known for his work Watership Down.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor wear to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrapper is also very smart with minor wear and light sunning to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd small handling mark to the endpapers.
