A collection of forty-nine issues of 'The John Buchan Journal'. In the original paper covers and housed in four uniform cloth display boxes, with calf spines with raised bands and gilt tooling. 

This set includes Vol I. No. 1 (Spring 1980) - Issue No. 50 (2017). The set includes a nearly complete run from issue 1-50, only lacking issue no. 5 (1985).

John Buchan is a Scottish author and historian who is best known for his novel 'The Thirty-Nine Steps', which features his popular hero Richard Hannay. 

An impressive run of 'The John Buchan Journal', a publication from the 'John Buchan Society', which features articles and studies relating to the renowned Scottish author. The journals discuss his life and works, as well as articles on subjects Buchan was passionate about, such as fishing, archaeology, and more. Notable issues of this journal found in this set include; 

'No. 2'- Which includes an early unpublished short story by Buchan, which was found in the National Library of Scotland. 

'No. 10' - The Commemorative issue, which includes a letter from Ronald Forbes Buchan, and John Buchan's short supernatural story 'Ho, the Merry Masons'. 

'No.30' - The Retrospective Issue, discussing the history of the society. 

'No.50' - The fiftieth issue, featuring a transcription of an old interview with Buchan, a biographical article by Ursula Buchan on his early years, and a selection of Yousuf Karsh's photographs of Buchan. 

The set also includes two pamphlets which feature an index for issues 1-50, and a list of contents for issues 1-40. 

Illustrated throughout with monochrome vignettes.

Condition

In the publisher's original paper covers. Housed in cloth display boxes with calf spines. Externally excellent with very minimal edge wear, and occasional minor handling marks. The staples remain un-rusted. Internally firmly bound with clean and bright pages. The display boxes are excellent with only slight discolouration to the spines and the odd slight mark to the cloth.
