First edition. Illustrated with twenty-four colour plates. Collated complete. Includes the antique-inspired optical toy "the magic mirror" with a detailed guide of how to use it. The mirror is kept in a neat envelope to the rear of the text. Transforming distorted or anamorphic images with a reflective device as was popular as a children's parlor toy in the nineteenth century. Creating delightful full-colour pictures.
Condition
In the original card wraps. Externally, excellent. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. "Magic mirror" held in an envelope to the rear of the text. The tape holding it to the rear pastedown has aged and detached. Previous owner's small ink stamp to the front pastedown.
