In the publisher's original cloth, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Numerous in-text illustrations as well as ten beautiful colour illustrations by Yvonne Gilbert of various figures and creatures from folk-lore. Collated complete.
A shortened form of Briggs's earlier A Dictionary of Fairies, this delightful book explores the different supernatural creatures and figures across British folklore. Many of the folklore characters cited were chronicled by monks in the twelfth century. Briggs writes with a fascination that is hard not to appreciate.
Briggs remains one of the biggest names within folklore, with the Katherine Briggs Folklore Award being commemorated as an annual book prize within the Folklore Society.

In the publisher's original cloth, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, in excellent condition. Dust wrapper is bright and clean, with a very small mark to wrapper spine and top edge of rear. Protective coating is adhered to the wrapper and cannot be removed. End papers are bright and clean. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
