First edition in original publisher's binding. With unclipped dust wrapper.

Featuring beautiful tipped-in frontispiece and 227 photographs, 27 in colour. Also featuring two maps: "Old Provinces" and "Prefectures and Papermaking Towns". Collated complete.

With introduction "On Washi" by artist and designer Isamu Noguchi.

Written by American writer Sukey Hughes after spending time in Japan and learning about washi from a local papermaker.

Condition

In publisher's original binding. With unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, lovely condition. Bookplate to front paste down. Dust wrapper very smart with the odd mark, particularly on the back. Internally, firmly bound. Pages very bright and clean with the exception to slight spotting on the top of the book, concentrated towards the spine.
