This volume covers c1837 to 1885, containing a vast number of letters from Lewis Carroll to a wealth of correspondence. Recipients include his family, Alexander Macmillan, the Liddells, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Lord Salisbury, Gertrude Chataway, members of the Royal Family, and more.
Throughout his life, Carroll wrote some 98,721 letters, according to a special letter register he created.
Illustrated throughout, with the in-text illustrations taped in.
Edited by Morton N. Cohen, with the assistance of Roger Lancelyn Green.
Condition
In the original publisher's paper wraps. Externally, worn, with loss of paper to the head and tail of the spine, and to the extremities, and to the head of the front wrap. Label to the tail of the wraps. Spine and extremities are sunned. Tear to the tail of the front joint. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
