What Our Customers Say...
Description
Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding
The seventh impression of the first UK edition of this work, which was first published in 1967. Dahl is one of the most beloved children's writers of the twentieth century, known for his unsentimental and macabre children's novels, though he wrote extensively for adults too.
One of the most popular children's novels of all time, 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' is an entertaining fantastical tale of Willy Wonka and his impressive and absurd chocolate factory.
Dahl was said to be inspired for this novel by his childhood, when he attended Repton School in Derbyshire. Cadbury would often send test packages to schoolchildren at Repton for them to test new products, as the factory was located near the school.
The novel was adapted into the 1971 film 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory', which Dahl disowned, and a 2005 remake.
Illustrated with in-text illustrations throughout by Faith Jacques.
