Two volumes. First edition. Written by Bill Porterfield, an American author who was one of the first writers to live and work exclusively in Paisano, the retreat for artists at the Texas Hill Country ranch. This set contains: A Loose Herd of Texans, 1978. A collection of short pieces mixing the profile with the personal essay, displaying a memorable cast of his characters from the Texas heartland. Previously held in the library of James Strohn Copley, an American journalist and newspaper publisher. Texas Rhapsody: Memories of a Native Son, 1981. The author's own memoir, exploring the Texas he knows and loves from the time of his childhood to the present day.

Condition

In the original cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor wear to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrappers are very smart with minor wear and light sunning to the spines. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. With the previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown of A Loose Herd of Texans.
