A detailed military history of the French invasion of Russia, known as the Russian Campaign, initiated by Napoleon with the aim of compelling the Russian Empire to observe the continental blockade of the United Kingdom. With chapters on the arrival at Wilna, the plan of the campaign, a general review of the incidents of the campaign, and the progress of events. Written by Carl Philipp Gottlieb von Clausewitz, a Prussian general and military theorist who stressed the "moral" or psychological and political aspects of waging war. His most notable work, Vom Kriege (About War), though unfinished at his death, is considered a seminal treatise on military strategy and science. Translated from the original German.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, excellent. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd small spot to the fore-edge.
