In the publisher's original clipped dust wrapper. 

This pleasing work details the various exotic species of birds found in remote tropical jungles of New Guinea to the northernmost reaches of Australia. 

With commentary on their distribution, descriptions, breeding habits and additional remarks.

Most of the colour plates derive from R. Bowdler Sharpe's Monograph of the Paradiseidae, a similar work looking at exotic and bowerbirds. 

With additional special plates by Peter Hayman. 

Undated. Dated from an identical copy held institutionally.

Condition

In the original cloth binding. With the original clipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent. With minor shelf wear and a couple marks to the boards. Dust wrapper is also very smart, with slight edgewear and sunning to the spine. Marks to the wrap. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages.
