A two-volume facsimile of Jerónimo de Mendieta's famous historical work Historia Eclesiástica Indiana, which provides an account of the Franciscan evangelisation in the colony of New Spain in the Americas.
Jerónimo de Mendieta (1525-1604), otherwise known as Gerónimo de Mendieta, was a Franciscan missionary and historian, who spent most of his life in the Spanish Empire's possessions in Mexico and Central America.
This two-volume work is part of a series on Spanish authors. This particular set has a detailed introduction by Francisco de Solano y Perez-Lila (1930-1996), the Spanish historian and Americanist.
Condition
In the publisher's original quarter morocco binding. Externally, smart, with shelf wear to the extremities and light rubbing to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
