Description

First Edition, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, Signed, With Dustwrapper

First edition. Signed by the author to the title page. A Sergeant Cribb novel. Set in the seedy world of bare-first pugilism in late Victorian England, infiltrated by a young police officer. His superior, Sergeant Cribb suspects that this remote club is a centre of the illegal sport and that the losing fighters have been disposed of by decapitation so that the corpses cannot be identified. Written by Peter Harmer Lovesey, a British writer of historical and contemporary detective novels and short stories best known for his series featuring Sergeant Cribb, a Victorian-era police detective based in London, and Peter Diamond, a modern-day police detective in Bath.
