What Our Customers Say...
Description

The first edition, first impression, in the publisher's original price clipped dust wrapper.
The work of Greek diplomat, lawyer, genealogist and historian Philip Pandely Argenti, who hailed from a long established noble family from the Greek island of Chios. His family can be traced back to 1511 on the island.
In 1962, he donated over 10,000 volumes of rare books and manuscripts, maps, and albums to the Library of Chios.
Argenti presents a study of the religious minorities of the island of Chios -chiefly Judaism and Roman Catholicism- against the background of the Orthodox Greek religion and the succession of Byzantine, Genoese and Turkish administrations that the island saw throughout the centuries.
