The first edition, first impression of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper designed by Osbert Lancaster.

In this novel, cartoonist Jerry West falls in love with air hostess Jane Hunnicut. However, before Jerry can marry her, he is faced with the task of recovering the eponymous painting, a missing Gainsborough miniature.

P. G. Wodehouse is an influential and very popular humorist author, best known for the creation of his characters Bertie Wooster and his valet, Jeeves. He was a prolific author, publishing more than ninety books.

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is in lovely condition. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Dust wrapper is very bright and smart.
