What Our Customers Say...
Description
Illustrated
In the publisher's original cloth binding. 111 illustrations. Collated complete. Geofroy Tory published his own book, Champ Fleury, in 1529. The topics of this text range from handwriting styles to the proper use of grammar. It was one of the most important and influential works of the time, and set a standard for French publishing that in many ways is still followed today. Tory is best known for introducing the apostrophe, the acute accent and grave accent, and the cedilla to the French language. He put many French texts into print at a time when that was only done for Latin texts. With an introduction by J. W. Jolliffe.
