The sixth edition of this work. Translated from the original German and edited with explanatory notes and copious indexes by the Rev. J. R. Fishlake. Philipp Buttman's valuable study of Greek words and passages principally from the poems of Homer and Hesiod, originally published in 1818-1825. 

In a lovely full calf binding. No half title as issued.

Condition

In a full calf binding with five raised bands, gilt to the edges and marbled endpapers, heraldic motto and emblem 'malo mori quam foedari' embossed in gilt to the front board. Externally sound with some shelf wear and rubbing to the spine and along the joints, title label to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean.
