Eugen Schuhmacher (1906-1973) was a German zoologist and pioneer of animal documentaries. This work showcases his fabulous wildlife photography in full-page colour, with anecdotes of his travels and seven years of filming across all continents of the world. It also includes alphabetically listed descriptions of all the species illustrated. This work has been translated by Gwynne Vevers and Winwood Reade.
From the library of Desmond Morris, a zoologist best known for his 1967 sociobiological work ‘The Naked Ape’. Alongside achieving great acclaim as a zoologist, Morris was also known for being an ethnologist and surrealist painter, and for popular television programmes, including ‘Zoo Time’.

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is in excellent condition. Internally, firmly bound. Pages and plates are bright and clean. Dust wrapper remains smart and bright, except for a little fading to the spine.
