A limited edition. Published in the same year as the first edition. Limited to 260 copies, of which this is number 43. Signed by the author to the limitations page. In the publisher's original half morocco binding on tan cloth, with gilt lettering to the spine. With the illustrated free end papers of the first edition to the front and rear of the book, thirty-five plates in both colour and monochrome. seven maps and six drawings. Collated complete. Sir Alec Rose was an English fruit merchant who served in the Royal Navy during World War II and had a deep interest in amateur sailing. In 1964, he took part in the second single-handed Transatlantic race, and in 1967-68, he solo circumnavigated the globe. His extraordinary achievement in this regard earned him a knighthood. In this book, Rose writes about his boat, 'Lively Lady', and of his travel experiences and incredible journey around the world. With a bookplate for one, 'Peter M. Scott', to the reverse of the front free endpaper.
