First edition. Presentation copy with a handwritten inscription to the pastedown dated 13th March 1968. Illustrated with two tipped in colour plates and one hundred and thirty-four black-and-white plates. Collated complete. In 1868, a second-hand furniture shop opened in New Oxford Street with a small window and some of the stock arranged outside on the pavement to catch the eye of passers-by. By 1968, the third generation is upholding a great business with the sound principle of careful buying and good judgement, making M. Harris & Sons a universally respected name in antique furniture dealing. From the library of Sir Ambrose Heal, an English furniture designer and businessman who served as the chairman of Heal's, a British furniture and homeware retail company, (then called Heal & Son) from 1913 to 1953.
Condition
In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Minor age toning to the endpapers.
