First edition. Presentation copy with a handwritten inscription to the pastedown dated 13th March 1968. Illustrated with two tipped in colour plates and one hundred and thirty-four black-and-white plates. Collated complete. In 1868, a second-hand furniture shop opened in New Oxford Street with a small window and some of the stock arranged outside on the pavement to catch the eye of passers-by. By 1968, the third generation is upholding a great business with the sound principle of careful buying and good judgement, making M. Harris & Sons a universally respected name in antique furniture dealing. From the library of Sir Ambrose Heal, an English furniture designer and businessman who served as the chairman of Heal's, a British furniture and homeware retail company, (then called Heal & Son) from 1913 to 1953.
