This work provides a detailed account of the region surrounding Manchester in the late 18th century, describing the settlements, waterways, commerce, manufacturers and surrounding countryside of areas including Lancashire, Derbyshire and Cheshire.
Collated, complete with reproductions of the seventy-three engraved plates, including a folding plan and folding map kept in a pocket to the rear endpaper.
Written by John Aikin, an English medical doctor and surgeon, who later in life devoted himself wholly to biographical and periodical writing.
Condition
In the original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, with only minor instances of shelf wear. Dust wrapper is very smart, with slight sunning to the spine and mild edge wear. With small loss to the fly leaf joint and a few handling marks to the wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean, with contemporary ink inscription to the front free endpaper.
