First Edition, With Dustwrapper
In the original unclipped dustwrapper designed by Leigh Taylor. Kingsley Amis was an English novelist, poet, critic and teacher. Amis's first novel Lucky Jim was an immediate success and marked the beginning of a long career in writing. He wrote more than 40 books, including 20 novels and many volumes of poetry. In 2008, The Times ranked Amis 13th on their list of the top fifty greatest British writers since 1945. This collection of Amis's poetry covers the period of his writing between 1957 and 1967 and is Amis's second anthology of poetical works. It tackles many of themes found in his novels, including love, money, ageing and death.
Condition
In a quarter paper vellum binding with green cloth boards. With the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally in excellent condition with just some slight shelfwear to the extremities. Slight sunning to the extremities. Dustwrapper is very smart with slight chipping to the extremites, including some loss to the extremities of the flyleaves. A few spots to the wrap, heavier to the reverse of the wrap. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with just the odd spot, heavier to the first and last few pages.
