The first edition. In the original illustrated hardback binding. An ink inscription from the illustrator to the title page reading, 'For Dear John, from Adam Kilian, Warsaw 29.1.1968'. A delightful collection of children's poems by the popular Polish writer and literary critic, Anna Kamieńska. With beautiful illustrations in both colour and monochrome by Adam Kilian. Adam Kilian was a Polish designer and illustrator who worked profusely within puppet theatres. With a blind stamp and bookplate to one John M. Blundall to the front free endpaper. John Michael Blundall was a British puppeteer and artist, likely connected to the illustrator through their puppetry.
Condition
In the original hardback binding. Externally, smart with some shelf wear to the edges and tears to the spine. Age-toning to the board edges. Bookplate and blind stamp to the front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clear with age-toning to the edges. Illustrators ink inscription to the title page.
