First published in 1946, this uncommon 1966 edition features a new introduction by Lawrence Durrell, and is edited by John Waller, G. S. Fraser, and J. C. Hall.

In the original unclipped dust wrapper.

With a portrait frontispiece, and numerous vignette illustrations throughout.

A war memoir by British poet and soldier Keith Douglas, recounting his experience as a tank commander during the North African campaign of World War II, shortly before he was killed in action in Normandy on 9th June 1944.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, fine. Chipping and small loss to dust wrapper back strip head, with rear wrap head age toned, and a touch of rubbing to folds over joints. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
