1965 The Red and the Green
What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper
The first U. S. edition.
With the publisher's original unclipped dust wrapper.
This novel combines a researched account of the events leading up to the Easter Rising with a complicated sexual farce, with all characters being members of an interrelated Anglo-Irish family.
This is the ninth novel to be published from Irish-British writer and philosopher, Iris Murdoch, who was best known for her memorable explorations of morality, sexual relationships and the notions of good and evil.
The novel had mixed reviews on its publication, with several critics finding the blended themes demeaning to Irish history as well as to the work itself.
Condition
In the original cloth binding. With the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, with minor shelf wear. Dust wrapper is very smart, with edge wear, notably to the spine head and tail. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages.
