With a signed, dedicated inscription by the author to the opposite of the Table of Contents page stating "To our highly esteemed friends". Dated July 30th, 1966. 

With an abundance of colour and monochrome illustrations throughout the work.

In the publisher's original unclipped dust wrapper. 

This it the first volume of this three volume study on the birds of Chile. The work explores the physical geography of Chile before discussing various species of birds that reside there and within the surrounding regions. 

Each section dedicated to a type of bird describes the identifiable features of their South American origins.

Condition

In the original cloth binding. In the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart with shelf wear and a few small marks to the boards. Front hinge is tender. Dust wrapper is slightly edge worn and sunned. With marks and handling marks to the wrap. Slight chipping and a small closed tear to the head of the spine. Internally, the first few leaves before the Introduction are loosening, but otherwise generally firm. Pages are bright and clean. With the author's contemporary ink inscription opposite to the Table of Contents.
