Especially scarce with such a personalised inscription to the title page. 'For Eddy with fraternal affection - David aka John Le Carre'. 

Comprising two novels by John Le Carre 'Call for the Dead' and 'A Murder of Quality'.  'Call for the Dead' was Le Carre's first novel, and was first issued in 1961. It introduces John le Carre's recurring character, George Smiley. 'A Murder of Quality' was Le Carre's second novel. It continues the story of George Smiley. This is the only novel set outside the espionage community. 

This proof copy has Le Carre's occasional grammatical corrections in ink to the margins on pages 23 and 31.

A very scarce uncorrected proof of this important espionage author's works.

Condition

In the original paper wraps. Externally, sound. Chipping to the head and tail of spine. Light tidemarks to the head and tail of front wrap and to the spine. Proof stamp to the front wrap. Front hinge is tender. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Gift inscription from the author to the title page. Le Carre's grammatical correction to page 23 and 31. Pages are bright and clean.
