A collection of several hundred philosophical aphorisms by John Fowles, with a total of 1,405 short and insightful pieces. 

The principal theme of the work is that most achievements and great steps forward come from individuals.

Fowles's work is modelled on the 'Pensees' of Pascal.

An excellent first edition by Fowles, the renowned British novelist of works positioned between modernism and postmodernism, best known for 'The Magus', 'A Maggot', and 'The Collector'. This was the second published work from the author, after 'The Collector'.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with price unclipped dust wrapper. Minor bump to back strip tail, otherwise externally fine. Light rubbing to dust wrapper back strip tail, otherwise excellent. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
