Limited to seven hundred and fifty copies, of which this is number four hundred and fifty-three. Signed by the author to the limitation page. With a colour frontispiece by Kathleen Hale, a British artist, illustrator, and children's author. Waugh's final fiction, being an entertaining long short story, featuring the revival of the protagonist of 'Black Mischief' and 'Put Out More Flags'. The Times Literary Supplement called it a "nasty little book", however, that same year he was awarded with the title Companion of Literature by the Royal Society of Literature (its highest honour). Written by Arthur Evelyn St. John Waugh, an English writer of novels, biographies, and travel books, who was also a prolific journalist and book reviewer. He is recognised as one of the great prose stylists of the English language in the twentieth century.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light fading to the board edges. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout.
