The Times Literary Supplement called it a "nasty little book", however, that same year he was awarded with the title Companion of Literature by the Royal Society of Literature (its highest honour). Written by Arthur Evelyn St. John Waugh, an English writer of novels, biographies, and travel books, who was also a prolific journalist and book reviewer. He is recognised as one of the great prose stylists of the English language in the twentieth century.
