The first edition of this work. An 'Ester Book' containing pieces from 'The Wind and the Rain' literary magazine founded in 1940 by a group of six schoolboys. Contributors included Arthur Machen, Nicolas Berdyaev, Jean Cocteau, and WH Auden among others.
Signed by the author to front free endpaper 'To Virginia with love from Neville' dated 1962. Also signed to title page.
Complete with unclipped dust wrapper.
Featuring plates of illustrations to rear.
Condition
In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally lovely with only light bumping to head and tail of spine and extremities. Dust wrapper unclipped with only light chipping to head and tail of spine, age toning to spine and peripherals. Internally, firmly bound. Minor odd spotting to occasional leaf, pages otherwise generally bright and clean.
