The beautiful story of cognac, a variety of brandy named after the commune of Cognac, France. From the history of the wine-growing region in the departments of Charente and Charente-Maritime, through the developments of the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, to the modern production. Interlaced with photographs of the present day growing, harvesting, barreling, fermenting, and bottling processes. Written by Marie Louise Leveque de Vilmorin, a French novelist, poet and journalist. With photographs from Robert Doisneau, a French photographer who was a champion of humanist photography and a pioneer of photojournalism.
Condition
In the original card wraps. Externally, smart with light wear and chipping to the extremities. The odd small crease to the tips of the wraps with small marks to the rear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Minor age toning to the extremities and a small tide mark to the front endpaper.
