The first edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Iris Murdoch was a popular novelist and philosopher. Her novels primarily touch on themes of good and evil, sexual relationships, morality and the power of the unconscious. This work is packed with irony, pathos, affection, lust, illusion and disillusion. A unique tragi-comedy about the mysteries of love.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally smart, with a little fading and a small mark to the spine. A touch of fading to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean except for the odd spot to the fore edge. Dust wrapper is generally bright, except for sunning to the spine and folds. Marks to the spine and front of the wrap, obscuring two letters to the spine. Chipping to the head of the spine of the wrap. 5cm closed tear to the head of the spine. 5cm closed tear to the front of the wrap.
