Randall is having an affair in London with a young woman named Lindsay Rimmer, who just so happens to be the secretary of Emma Sands, a detective novelist with whom Hugh had had an affair twenty-five years earlier. The Red and The Green, 1965. First edition. The author's only historical novel, set in Dublin during the week leading up to the Easter Rising of 1916. The novel follows members of a complexly interrelated Anglo-Irish family, beginning with Andrew Chase-White, Second lieutenant in King Edward's Horse, who spends a leave with his family in Ireland before accompanying his regiment to France.
