Condition

In the publisher's original pictorial paper hardbacks. Externally, smart. Previous seller’s discreet label to rear paste down of “Patty Pan.” Previous owner’s inscription to front flap of “Cecily”. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities. One or two very slight handling marks to boards. Dust wrappers, generally smart. Dust wrapper of “Cecily”, “Jeremy Fisher,” “Squirrel Nutkin,” “Patty Pan,” and one of the copies of “Flopsy Bunnies” and “Tailor of Gloucester,” clipped. Slight rubbing and bumping resulting in the odd small chip, closed tear and crease to extremities. Slight soiling to wraps. Damp staining to spine of wrap of Pig Robinson and slightly to front wrap perimeters. The odd spot, heavier to perimeters of wraps. Spotting heavier to perimeters of a “Fierce Bad Rabbit." Slight damp staining to rear wrap of “Cecily." Spotting and age toning slightly heavier to wraps of “Peter Rabbit.” Internally, generally firmly bound. Hinges slightly strained in places, but holding firm with exceptions: in “A Fierce Bad Rabbit”, nine of the colour plates are fully disbound with tearing to the gutters of plates 39, 36, 25, and 16, where they have likely previously been torn out, and F=frontispiece of “Cecily” almost fully disbound, only just holding at the upper extremity. Pages bright and clean with one or two spots to fore edges with the odd spot to first and last few leaves on the older copies. Cockling to lower fore edges of “Jemima Puddle-Duck."
