Illustrated charmingly throughout in colour and black-and-white by Maurice Wilson. 

Offering a terrific selection of these classic moral tales, including 'Wolf in Sheep's Clothing', 'Lion and Fox', 'Hare and Tortoise', 'Birds, Beasts, and Bat', and more. Retold here by James Reeves, a poet, educationalist and folklorist.

Bound by Eric Sweet, a keen collector of private press and fables. He studied at the Brighton College of Art, before moving to London to work as a lettering artist and typographer for advertising agencies, later becoming the head of Birmingham School of Printing. Sweet's bindings are unique and striking, reflecting the topics of the volumes in distinctive style.

Condition

Rebound by Eric Sweet in quarter crushed morocco, with plum paper covered boards. With Sweet's bindery plate to the front pastedown. Externally, lovely. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean, with light scattered spots to the first and last few leaves.
