Complete in four volumes. First edition. Concerning one of the most controversial aspects of the Second World War, these volumes of narrative are devoted to the description of the strategy, tactics, intelligence, and results of the air offensive against German forces. With the author's having been provided full access to the papers of the Cabinet Office, the Air Ministry, and Bomber Command. With volume one regarding preparation, volume two on endeavour, volume three on victory, and volume four containing annexes and appendices. Volume one is illustrated with a frontispiece, twenty plates, and six maps. Volume two is illustrated with a frontispiece, thirty-five plates, and fifteen maps. Volume three is illustrated with a frontispiece, twenty-nine plates, and fourteen maps. Collated complete. Written by Sir Charles Kingsley Webster, a British diplomat and historian, and Anthony Noble Frankland, a British historian who served as Director General of the Imperial War Museum.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, excellent. Original unclipped dust wrappers are also very smart with minor wear to the extremities and sunning to the spines. The odd small mark to the panels. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout.
