These volumes come with the publisher's original unclipped dust wrapper.

This is a three volume set, consisting of the following:

Breakfast and Elevenses (1961). This volume is perhaps the most controversial and critically discussed of his works. This volume is a fictionalised diary filled with Bratby's rants, reflections, and observations, often crude, confessional, and obsessively focused on bodily functions, art, and marital tension.

Break-Pedal Down (1962). This volume continues the same raw, manic, autobiographical narrative filled with disillusionment, and self-destruction, underscoring his dissatisfaction with both the art world and domestic life.

Break 50 Kill (1963). The final and darkest in this set, this is the most surreal and fragmented volume, reflecting an intense psychological collapse.

John Randall Bratby RA, (1928–1992) was a British painter and writer best known as the leading figure of the Kitchen Sink realism movement in postwar art. He has made portraits of both his family, and celebrities, a number of his works have been seen in film and television.
