The scarce first edition, first impression of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper.

Loosely inserted is a newspaper cutting containing two letters about the author.

Peter Elstob (1915-2002) was a British soldier, adventurer, novelist, military historian and entrepreneur, best known for this lightly-fictionalised work on the events of the Battle of Normandy. This vivid account of the author's experiences is told in the form of a novel with compassionate humour.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Pages 254 and 255 have been clumsily opened. Dust wrapper is generally smart and bright, though slightly sunned to the spine with a little chipping to the head and tail.
