This book covers a century of development of women's educational opportunities at Oxford, beginning with the liberal reforms after 1850 and ending with the altered status of the women's "societies" to that of full colleges in 1959. 

Written by Vera Brittain, a VAD nurse, writer, feminist and socialist who is best remembered for her memoir 'Testament of Youth' which recounts her experiences during the First World War. 

With eight monochrome plates. Collated, complete.

Condition

In the original cloth binding. With the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, with minor shelf wear to the spine tail and warping to the bottom of the rear board caused by damp. Dust wrapper is very smart, with minor edge wear and handling marks to the wrap. Internally, firmly bound. With minor damp stains to the rear free endpaper and pastedown, otherwise pages are bright and clean.
