Christie published her first six novels with The Bodley Head, before moving on to Collins. In the 1960s, The Bodley Head reissued the Christie novels with new dust wrappers.
Upon initial publication, this work received enthusiastic reviews, with 'The Times Literary Supplement' stating 'The only fault this story has is that it is almost too ingenious'.
The work marked the start of Christie's illustrious crime fiction career, contributing to her becoming one of the leading authors of the Golden Age of Detective Fiction.

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, fine. Dust wrapper lightly sunned to back strip, with small chip to back strip head. Small closed tear to front wrap tail. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
