First edition of Summoned By Bells by John Betjeman, in the original publisher's cloth binding and clipped dust wrapper.
A blank verse autobiography which described Betjeman's early memories of his middle-class upbringing in Hampstead, London, to his departure from Oxford University. The work was read chapter by chapter in a series of radio broadcasts on BBC radio by the author.
John Betjeman was a twentieth century English poet and writer, and was Poet Laureate from 1972 until his death in 1984.
Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding and clipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent. There is some light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. The dust wrapper has some slight wear to the extremities, a few light spots, and a few ink marks to the front. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean and lightly age toned.
