First edition. A guide to haute cuisine and a collection of impressive menus, including twelve selected from those prepared for the Royal table. With each dish explained with meticulous care and detail, from the simplest to the most intricate and elaborate of recipes. Written by Rene Roussin, a French chef who worked across Europe in hotels and restaurants before being hired as the personal chef to King Edward VI and the British Royal Household. Translated and edited by Kellow Chesney, a British journalist, publisher's reader, editor and writer.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor fading to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrapper is sound with light wear and chipping to the extremities. Minor loss to the panel edges with the odd small closed tear. A 2" closed tear to the front panel with the odd small mark to the rear panel. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with very light spotting to the first and last few pages. Previous owners' bookplates to the front pastedown and endpaper.
