This work was written by Laurence Binyon and J. J. O'Brien Sexton, and provides a detailed study on Japanese colour prints. This distinguished work, first published in 1923 and out of print for many years, was reproduced in this new edition, and discusses the art and techniques of many noted Japanese artists such as Harunoby, Koryusai, Shigemasa and Utamaro.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth with the original clipped dust wrapper. Externally very smart with chipping to the spine label, and very minimal shelf wear. The wrap is generally smart with slight sunning to the spine, handling marks, very small closed tears and the odd chip to the extremities, and a closed tear to the head of the rear joint. Spotting to the verso. Offsetting and spotting to the endpapers. Internally firmly bound with bright pages and the odd spot, heavier to the blanks.
