A classic children's novel following the story of Mole, Ratty, and Badger as they try to help Mr. Toad, after he becomes obsessed with motorcars and gets into trouble. With short stories about these fantastic characters that are disconnected from the main narrative. Written by Kenneth Grahame, a British writer best remembered for this work. Illustrated by Ernest Howard Shepard, an English artist and book illustrator known especially for illustrations of the anthropomorphic animal and soft toy characters in The Wind in the Willows and Winnie-the-Pooh.
Condition
In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor wear and light fading to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrapper is sound with light wear and sunning to the extremities. The odd small closed tear to the panel edges with minor loss to the head and tail of the spine. Light spotting to the fly leaves. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot. A contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper with light ink marks to the title page opposite.
