The first edition, first impression. With the issue point of 'a fire at the piano-works almost every year' on page 272. This was removed from later impressions as the result of a libel. Illustrated throughout. The autobiographical work is based on the author's experiences growing up in the small village of Slad, Gloucestershire. 'Cider with Rosie' was the first of a trilogy, following by 'As I Walked Out One Midsummer Morning' and 'A Moment of War'. Written by English novelist Laurie Lee, who is best known for this popular work. Illustrated by English portrait artist and illustrator, John Stanton Ward.
Condition
In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light wear to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrapper is also smart with light wear and chipping to the panel edges. Minor sunning to the spine with minor loss to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd small spot. Minor age toning to the endpapers with a contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper. With green ink underlining much of pages 134 and 135, no marks to other pages.
