What Our Customers Say...

Description

Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

The whimsical and anonymously written medieval poem The Pearl, accompanied with an introduction and analytical notes by Canadian philologist E.V. Gordon. A 1958 reprint, first published in 1953.

In the publisher's original blue cloth, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Contains an illustrated frontispiece of The Dreamer lying asleep.

A beautiful elegy about a parent who has recently lost their child, 'The Pearl'. The parent falls asleep and dreams of an angelic maiden who guides him through a mystical land and tells of her daughter's place in heaven. Many believe that the anonymous author is the same as that of the Arthurian legend Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.

Condition
