First edition. The collected poetry of John Betjeman, an English poet, writer, and broadcaster who was Poet Laureate from 1972 until his death in 1984. The collection includes poems such as: Slough, In Westminster Abbey, A Subaltern's Love Song, Christmas, Hunter Trials, The Village Inn, and many more. With an introduction by the Earl of Birkenhead, an English biographer.
Condition
In the original cream cloth binding. Externally, excellent. Original unclipped dust wrapper is smart with light shelf wear and chipping to the extremities. Sunning to the spine and a 1" closed tear to the bottom corner of the front panel. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. Contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper dated 1958.
