What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper
The first edition.
In the publisher's price-clipped dust wrapper.
The debut novel of American author, John Cheever, winning the U.S. National Book Award for Fiction in 1958. The novel was followed by 'The Wapshot Scandal' in 1964.
A humorous tale surrounding the eccentric Wapshot family as they muddle through their lives in a Massachusetts fishing village. Regarded as somewhat autobiographical, with the character of Coverly likened to Cheever, in that they both experienced feelings of bisexuality.
Interestingly, 'The Wapshot Chronicle' was the first novel chosen for the Book of the Month Club to include the F word.
